- This is hard to attest but I don’t doubt its use. Searching for “I live in Winch” gets only two hits, one on a cycling forum and one on Twitter. We rightly have Brum and Cov but unfortunately don’t have Leam as an abbreviation for Royal Leamington Spa, or Wolves as an abbreviation for Wolverhampton itself (the city rather than its football club, that is), so we should probably have more of these entries. - How could I forget ‘Utcheter’, the local form of the name of my dad’s home town of Uttoxeter? It’s clearly dialect from the land of the oatcakes (Staffordshire) and not used nationally or internationally but merits inclusion (There are 670 search results where clearly ‘Utcheter’ is being used to mean ‘Uttoxeter’, many hits are mentions, duplicates and not durably attested admittedly but it’s clearly ‘in widespread use’). - Yeah, usage may be confined to Hampshire, I live about 50 miles away and had never heard of it - the most "official" mention I can find is by the University of Winchester. But perhaps it's not attestable in durable sources, so should we mark it "unattestable"?. DonnanZ (talk) 12:31, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

- I also live not a million miles from Winchester and I have never heard this, so I think it may be very local, or very casual/borderline usage (e.g. the kind of "were ru in winch?" usage that I'm seeing in some search results). Mihia (talk) 11:53, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
