Folk etymology?

@Djkcel Are you sure the connection with vīta is folk-etymological? If the first vowel is truly short that seems possible, but a source or some kind of reasoning would strengthen the etymology, as the "life" etymology seems to be repeated all over the place. Hey man sorry for whatever reason I didn't put a source for that one, but I'm going to guess I got it from Wikipedia and there's no trace of any mention of folk etymology on Saint Vitus' page anymore.
