Translations

Do the provided translations apply to the Wicca-specific proper noun Triple Goddess or the uncapitalized general mythological term triple goddess? Astral (talk) 04:26, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

"Triple Goddess" (capitalized) is different than "triple goddess" (uncapitalized). "Triple goddess" can refer to Brigid, Hecate, and various other mythological figures who fit the triple goddess archetype, whereas "Triple Goddess" is a proper noun that refers to a specific deity in a specific religion.

The Japanese translation (三相女神) is defined as: "A triple goddess. Examples include the three Fates […] or any other three associated goddesses who overlap into one, such as Artemis, Selene, and Hecate."

That leads me to conclude that this Japanese translation should correctly be listed on triple goddess. Astral (talk) 07:34, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

This is English wiktionary and "Triple goddess" doesn't make any sense, why would just one word be capitalized? And in any case we already have an entry for triple and goddess.Lucifer (talk) 22:56, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

I did not make reference to the spelling "Triple goddess." It's standard English to capitalize the first letter in a sentence, even if the word it begins is not a proper noun (e.g., "'Cat' is a three-letter word.") Astral (talk) 00:39, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
