T’ang Shan

[edit]

In July 2020, an IP wrote "T’ang Shan" on this talk page. In my experience, many English language geographical terms derived from Mandarin have alternative forms that put a space between the syllables in the word, just like "T'ang Shan". This includes Hanyu Pinyin, Wade-Giles and other romanization schemes. Here is an example of T'ang Shan: [1]. Because Wade-Giles has been scrupulously neglected by the Wiki community lo these past two decades, there is not enough of a foundation to build upon to document all these variations at this time, but I leave this note here as a reminder and marker of another fascinating vista in the linguistic puzzle. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 09:36, 31 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
