Both Duden and DWDS correctly mention that a "Seuche" is dangerous, so not every epidemic is a "Seuche". That's clear. However, they both restrict the word to infectious diseases, which is not quite correct. Being infectious makes a disease more dangerous, so they are correlated. And it's also true that "Seuche" is used with infectious diseases more often. But you could easily call cancer and alcoholism "Seuchen" as well, even though they are not infectious. 2.203.201.61 00:21, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
