Connection to "hod carrier"

[edit]

I was just going through the list of english idioms, and came upon this one. It being an anagram for hod carrier piqued my interest, and I was wondering whether the terms have a connection beyond being anagrams for each other. Was Richard Roe derived from hod carrier? Is this a term mainly used among brick-layers? Smiley Abalone (talk) 22:38, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Smiley Abalone: I don’t see why there should be any connections between these two random words that happen to be anagrams of each other. That doesn’t of course rule out the existence of at least a handful number of anagrams that may be etymologically or semantically related to each other. ·~ dictátor·mundꟾ 14:21, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
