Latin. Purported vocative of Pompeius (“Pompey”), created by @JohnC5. This spelling turns up in a few Google Books results, but not as a vocative. The expected form is Pompeī. This, that and the other (talk) 12:59, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

- @Brutal Russian: I think this is the regular pre-Classical form, so the grandfather of the grandfather of Vergilius was called Vergilie, hence the stress of Vergili is on the penultimate, but those forms are often altered by later scribes and if we find fīlī instead of fīlie in Plautus texts this can be presumed an interpolation—am I missing aught?
