I'm not so sure about the statement: "An i was later added to the English rendition of the name to ease pronunciation." I don't think the i came out of nowhere simply to ease the English speech. I would say that the i is the rendition of the Persian/Urdu ezafe. In Urdu, Pakistan is more often pronunciated as "Pak-e-stan" than "Pak-i-stan". --Dijan 01:07, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
