Is "Messrs." restricted to multiple men, or can it be used for plural groups including men and women?

It refers to men only. This is an abbreviation of the French Messieurs, plural of Monsieur (my sir/lord), the female counterpart of which is madame (pl. mesdames). Usually one would say "Mesdames et Messieurs" (in French) or "ladies and gentlemen" (in English) when adressing a group of both sexes. – Krun 23:53, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
