There is no s in maori language the plural for maori is maori

This is the English word Maori. Often when words are borrowed into a language, they form plurals according to that language, not the language they originate with. You are correct that the Maori word Māori is invariant. Robert Ullmann 07:21, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
If we were to apply this logic to all ethnonyms which had been borrowed into English from foreign languages, then we would talk about Magyarok instead of Magyars and S(e)rbi instead of Serbs. Zacwill (talk) 18:12, 1 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
