London-centric

SOP. Banglacentric and Croatocentric are saved by the WT:COALMINE rule. Shi'a-centric isn't, but already passed an RFD, despite nobody actually voting to keep (Widsith (talk • contribs) saying keep single word. If attested. GreyishWorm (talk) 20:57, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

Well, Londoncentric would solve your "problem" as used by the Evening Standard [1]. Doesn't look too bad, no worse than Londonesque. Keep. DonnanZ (talk) 03:32, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

• Keep as a single word: this is a hyphenated suffixed word via -centric, not a compound. WT:CFI: "including a term if it is attested and, when that is met, if it is a single word or it is idiomatic". Thus, the requirement of idiomaticity does not apply. See also Wiktionary:Beer parlour § Including hyphenated prefixed words as single words. To mention part of it, for human decoding, this really isn't all that much easier than citycentric, and is probably the preferred spelling. I don't see who can find those 9900+ entries in Category:English terms prefixed with non- interesting; when a prefix is so hugely productive and human-transparent, the resulting individual items are necessarily trivial and boring. Suffix -centric has currently 153 items and therefore is so much more interesting. Even disregarding that, Londoncentric is easy to attest online in copy-edited sources, so WT:COALMINE would apply. It could. GreyishWorm reports themselves to be Wonderfool. We could just close the RFD as, speedy-kept: nominated by sockmaster Wonderfool. That would require something like proto-consensus, of course. --Dan Polansky (talk) 09:47, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

I'd be happy for a ban for Wonderfool on RFD! They are already unofficially banned from voting (although curiously, not from starting and closing votes) GreyishWorm (talk) 10:49, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

STRONG Keep This is very much a word, there are no shortage of hits on GoogleBooks, with or without a hyphen, as well as the Evening Standard quote mentioned above being a valid cite. The only problem with this very widely used word is that no one has yet got around to creating the corresponding word Londoncentrism. --Overlordnat1 (talk) 08:17, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
