The A’s in LGBTTQQIAAP

As allies don’t experience the same prejudices that members of the LGBTTQQIAAP community do they should not be included in said acronym while others go ignored who do have to experience Homophobia/transphobia/etc. the A stands for Aromantic or Agender BigfishBI27 (talk) 20:05, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

@BigfishBI27 It would be great if you would give a source for this abbreviation. For in general, it is not clear what is happening at all. If we are talking about homophobia/transphobia, then why are asexual people included in this abbreviation? I have never seen a bad attitude (homophobia/transphobia?) towards asexual people. Presumably because the only currently-provided quotes that expand the acronym explicitly expand it to "ally", not one of those other things. In general, the "A" in these acronyms can usually be found to stand for "ally" in some uses (and for "asexual" in other cases, but here "asexual" is already the other "A"), so when there are enough citations to support it, the most appropriate thing is usually to list both. Can you find citations where it stands for "agender"? The only quote I've found so far (but my search has not been exhaustive) that doesn't expand it to "ally" like most do is one that expands it to "androgynous".
For this particular acronym, it is interesting that the quotes provided so far were from seemingly hostile sources which are exaggeratedly expanding the acronym beyond what the LGBTQ+ community would regularly use; if this is true of most or a significant portion of cites of this term, it would merit some kind of label or usage note, but in fact I see some uses in seemingly neutral reference works. - -sche (discuss) 22:42, 24 September 2022 (UTC)

BTW, the reason allies have historically been included in these various acronyms is in part so that closeted people can attend meetings (of LGBTA, or LGBTQA, LGBTTQQIAAP, etc, groups) without outing themselves. - -sche (discuss) 22:46, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
