The article Soomaal on the Somali Wikipedia uses the term in this sense in the very first sentence. While we cannot use Wikipedia for attestation purpose, this makes it look plausible that it can be attested in this sense in other media.  --Lambiam 23:53, 8 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
For the record, this was added by a confirmed Pass a Method sock, but I didn't recognize any PaM accounts in the edit history of the Somali Wikipedia page. PaM has shown interest in Somali topics in the past, so it's not surprising. PaM's problem is a wrongheaded crusade to make coverage of unpopular topics or points of view equal to that of the mainstream even when there's no usage in those areas. Our coverage of Somali, however, is sparse enough that PaM wouldn't need to make up nonsense to come up with entries. You can see a definite agenda in their choices, though.
