An HCl scrubber is a device used to remove HCl (hydrogen chloride) from a gas stream by having the gas pass upward against a liquid stream (usually water or a caustic solution) flowing downward. Often used as a pollution control device.
As a chemical engineer, this is the meaning I have known for many years. I have no idea where the "hard particles" in the existing definition came from. — This comment was unsigned.
