Apparently how Henry Wadsworth Longfellow interpreted the Ojibwe name for the lake in The Song of Hiawatha. I'm however unsure how we should treat words like this. --Robbie SWE (talk) 16:37, 17 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Words like what? Is it used to mean Lake Superior? I've added four cites that say yes. It may be jokey or informal, but it is in use.--Prosfilaes (talk) 18:14, 17 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Words that are phonetic renditions of words in foreign languages, e.g. (hypothetically) Estarshein could be an English rendition of Swedish Östersjön. It doesn't mean that it is used synonymously. --Robbie SWE (talk) 18:41, 17 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
No, the cites mean that it is used synonymously.--Prosfilaes (talk) 18:53, 17 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ok then, never heard that name but I trust you and your citations. --Robbie SWE (talk) 19:14, 17 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
