Slur: alteration of Cunningham. DCDuring (talk) 02:05, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- I've worked out where this came from (I think...?): Bill Cunningham (talk show host)? This doesn't verify anything but it explains why our pet armchair anarchist created an entry. Equinox ◑ 02:26, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- It is a nickname given to the character Arnie Cunningham in the 1983 horror film Christine ([1], [2], [3]) (and perhaps also in the Stephen King novel of the same name the film is based on, but I can’t check that). In this novel the name is used to mock one Kevin Cunningham, in this one for “a drinker named Cunningham” (no given name supplied), and here for a gun trader named Farris Cunningham. In the meantime it also appears to be a rare but bona fide surname: [4], [5] – unless these are typos. --Lambiam 15:37, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- To be fair, if it can be shown to have been used to mock many instances of the same surname, does it not count for inclusion here? PseudoSkull (talk)
- Sure. If the usage meets WT:ATTEST. Usenet seems a likely source. DCDuring (talk) 03:21, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
