Neologisms as WOTDs
[edit]@CitationsFreak: thanks for adding quotations! However, regarding your edit comment accompanying this edit, I’m not aware of any current rule that limits WOTDs to neologisms attested for over two years. The reality is that the current WOTD backlog is about two to three years anyway. — Sgconlaw (talk) 04:49, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Do hot words need to be attested over a period of one (eg 2021 & 2022) or two (eg 2020, 2021, and 2022) years? Three citations, for all senses. (talk) 05:01, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- @CitationsFreak: one year: see WT:CFI. Hot words are probably unsuitable for WOTD as their inclusion is only provisional, but Coronatide has passed that stage. We haven’t yet developed a policy on how long a word should remain tagged as a “neologism”, though. We probably ought to have one. I think there’s a discussion going on at the Beer Parlour on this. — Sgconlaw (talk) 05:07, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- I meant "hot word". Sorry for the confusion. You were good before, but I think that my cite adds something, being an after-COVID cite. Three citations, for all senses. (talk) 05:11, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
