Incorrect spelling

This should actually be CliffsNotes, as it is a proper noun which has become a proprietary eponym assimilated into generic usage (i.e. a generic trademark). — This comment was unsigned.

The spelling of the trademark should have no bearing on the generic term derived from it- it's spelled however the people who use it spell it. In fact, trademark owners often make a point of changing the name of their product so it can be distinguished from the generic term. Chuck Entz (talk) 05:31, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
