Oglio?

[edit]

@Nicodene did you find this somewhere or is this OR? (nothing wrong with OR itself, I do it as well sometimes, just asking to see the refs) Rome inhabitants don't know and have never heard about a river in Lombardy. More likely seems oglio (oil), the dialectal term, which is still very common in informal speech, as a counterpart of the Standard olio. (It's pronounced [ˈɔjjo] and written ojo, but that's (basically unphonemic) Central Italian yeismo). Catonif (talk) 20:34, 14 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Catonif I wasn't aware that there existed a river with that name, let alone that Wiktionary had an entry for it.
I've added the source where I found it and explained in better detail what it says, along with your theory. Nicodene (talk) 20:55, 14 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
