Re [1]: do you have sources or proof? The etymology might alternately be: somebody saw "Black" with capital B, and decided to put that capital B on every other word with "black". Can you prove that "Blackademic" came from an upper-case "Black" plus "academic"? I think it's much more likely (having studied the politics for a while) that "blackademic" was a pre-existing word, and someone then decided to capitalise that entire word. @Equinox: The earliest uses are nonce (1969, 1974, 1987, 1992, 1994, 1999, 1999, 2003; all capitalized, although often as a proper noun, and the first word of a sentence in 1969); the uncapitalized form is rare. When it became an “established” word, it seems to have been used mostly with Black. J3133 (talk) 23:00, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
