Binondoc?
[edit]@Mlgc1998 Where is it in the Velarde map where it says "Binondoc" instead of "Minondoc"? Mar vin kaiser (talk) 03:08, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Mlgc1998: Oh nevermind, it's hard to see the map, but Potet considers Minundok, Minondoc, and Binondoc to be equally derived from tundok. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 03:09, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Mlgc1998: Although, are you sure that the exact spelling found in the Velarde map is "Binondoc"? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 09:28, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Mar vin kaiser Here is the 1734 velarde map kept somewhere in the US. It writes both "Minondo" (in the middle of the map by "Manila.") and "Binondoc." (the right side closeup illustration of Manila by Rio de Pasig). Here is another version of the same map kept in Spain. Mlgc1998 (talk) 15:56, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Mlgc1998: Thanks. I feel like that's "Minondoc" but the "C" just got covered. Anyway, I guess the current etymology is OK, but I'll put the references. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 10:03, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
