Seems to me like this should be under "Alternate spellings" as they both mean the same thing, but are spelled different in different contexts. Perhaps under the Alternate spellings, we could list the word, and then put allomorph in parentheses, as this is a specific type of alternate spelling. Anyone agree with that? Disagree? Well, too bad, it's been done. Feel free to revert if someone more knowledgeable than I has a better idea. Cerealkiller13 01:49, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

In one sense, there are alternative spellings, since they serve the same function as suffices and share a common etymological origin. Once attached to a word, however, they are no longer alternatives; one and only one form will be attached in a particular case. Specifically pegamento 'adhesive' will never be spelled pegamiento 'adhesion'. So, while they are related forms, calling them "alternative spellings" is incorrect. --EncycloPetey 02:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ah! The problem was that the definition of -miento was incorrect. The suffix -mento is for concrete nouns only, while -miento may describe the act or action. --EncycloPetey 02:45, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
