Is wungu comparable to Malay Bangun?

[edit]

Javanese have some word that have the b shifted in to b, so it could be. Husritheguy (talk) 02:03, 28 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Husritheguy: Most likely not. You still would have to explain the change of the vowel and the loss of final /n/, none of which are regular sound changes in the history of Javanese. Btw, for similar questions you can also go to Wiktionary:Etymology scriptorium for wider input. –Austronesier (talk) 11:30, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
so if i ask the same question the chance of people disscussing it will be higher? Husritheguy (talk) 14:46, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Similar questions about other words, not the same question about this word. Chances are low that anyone familiar with the historical phonology of Javanese will say that wungu is cognate to bangun, simply because it doesn't make sense. –Austronesier (talk) 15:09, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
