This kind of nominalisation without the use of particles is pervasive in analytic languages like Chinese and Vietnamese. Basically words can all act as nouns, verbs and adjectives if semantically allowed, and as a result the import of Chinese produced a disproportionate amount of nouns in agglutinative languages like Korean and Japanese.
