[edit]Does it mean "to play a zither" or "to play the se"? There are quite a few zithers in Chinese culture and the se is a very particular (and extinct) one. I don't believe this term would be used for the guzheng or guqin, yet the current definition would imply that it could be. 24.29.228.33 22:49, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think you answered your own question. A "se" is an ancient type of zither. Since very few English speaking people would understand (or care about) this distinction, I chose to use the English word zither. I have modified the page to incorporate your concerns. See if you like it any better. -- A-cai 23:09, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
It's much better, thank you. The guzheng and guqin are actually becoming quite well known in English-speaking regions, as excellent Chinese conservatory graduates leave China in droves and set up shop in nearly every major city of North America, Europe, and Australia. 24.29.228.33 08:16, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
