To answer the question posted in the attention tags - Whom else would one give birth to? Is "heir" intended? - this word is very old and no longer used in Modern Chinese. My interpretation is 遗 here refers to 遗传 ("to inherit"), whilst 育 just means "to give birth to." Therefore, an "heir" is indeed intended in the meaning. Tooironic 00:23, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
