[edit]Japanese > Etymology 1: 脳 (hiragana なずき, romaji nazuki, historical hiragana なづき) (anatomy) the brain
The Japanese page says that this kanji has no Kun-yomi, and should instead be read as 'Nou'. 'Nazuki' is not recognized by Google IME either. Is this an error? — This unsigned comment was added by 114.222.12.250 (talk).
- No error. The nazuki reading is rare, and should be marked as such, but it's showing up just fine in my copies of:
- Shōgaku Tosho (1988) 国語大辞典(新装版) [Unabridged Dictionary of Japanese (Revised Edition)] (in Japanese), Tōkyō: Shogakukan, →ISBN
- Matsumura, Akira, editor (2006), 大辞林 [Daijirin] (in Japanese), Third edition, Tokyo: Sanseidō, →ISBN
- See also:
- the Weblio entry
- the Kotobank entry
- The nazuki reading can also apparently be spelled as 髄. I don't have time at the moment, but eventually I or some other editor will update the 脳 entry to include all this detail. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │ Tala við mig 20:42, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
