澳 and 沃

Based on my experience so far, the characters 澳 (ào) and 沃 (wò) seem to be interchangeable in the Matsu Islands and Huangqi/Beijiao Peninsula area. For instance, 赤澳村 / 赤沃村 in Huangqi, Lianjiang County and 后沃村 / 後澳 / 后澳 in Beigan, Lienchiang. I don't know what this kind of relationship would be called though- vulgar simplified? Let me know if you have any thoughts or comments on this. I am thinking about adding this information to Wiktionary as a usage note. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 22:11, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
