kanjitab readings

On the ja-kanjitab documentation, it says this "o is for 送り仮名 (おくりがな, ​okurigana) that are abbreviated in the word. The readings used in "read as" categories are conservative and stick with the "core" readings that are as general as possible. Use these for cases like 入口 or 立入り." Very interesting. I didn't have a direct hand in drafting that documentation, and frankly, I think it's advocating an incorrect approach. In 入口, for instance, categorizing that entry under Category:Japanese_terms_spelled_with_入_read_as_いり is a mistake, in my opinion, as the entry clearly uses the 入 character with a reading of iri, not i. I see that Haplology added that description in late October 2013, after I'd started using the template. In my uses, I have consistently indicated the readings of the characters themselves, only using the o parameter to indicate okurigana that are in the entry, but not included in the kanji reading, essentially the opposite of what the template doc now says. My memory is dim, but I vaguely recall a discussion somewhere about this, and I thought that the conclusion was to use o for okurigana in the headword but not in the kanji reading, as I have done so far -- but clearly Haplology must have had a different understanding.
