Proper noun? Capitalised in rōmaji?

As the name of both a region and an ethnic group, isn't 熊襲 (くまそ) a proper noun? And, accordingly, shouldn't its rōmaji spelling be Kumaso, as opposed to *kumaso? — I.S.M.E.T.A. 22:57, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
