The Kanji shown is a name in Japan (read Karei), and is apparently Chinese for Kallang, a river in Malaysia and an area in Singapore. On Google in addition to several people with the name I found two instances of 加冷却, which might be typos for, or maybe an alternative spelling of 過冷却 (kareikyaku, “supercooling”, see Kotobank). Otherwise, I don't know if this is a thing. Cnilep (talk) 00:22, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- Oops, User:Whym originally added this as cooling; I mistakenly changed it to overcooling when I added ja-see. The request for verification is otherwise unchanged, though. Cnilep (talk) 00:27, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- google scholar:"加冷し". Seems to be the rare analogical antonym of 加熱. —Fish bowl (talk) 03:29, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- 加冷 is used in the sense of cooling, or more specifically, applying something to cool something else. At least that's what I thought. It may belong to a rather narrow technical register, and certainly rarer than the homonyms 加齢/華麗/etc, but here are a couple of examples I've quickly found: "液化窒素を用いて加冷する"[1], "加温又ハ加冷セラレタル"[2], "加冷、加熱、蓄冷、蓄熱できる"[3]. We can see them in long enough contexts, and none of the instances seems to be a typo. Apparently, it is also a rare family name in Japanese: [4][5] Is there any etymological relation with the river name discussed above? (Probably not likely, but interesting coincidence anyway.) - I don't think there is an link to the river name. As far as I know, the river name is Malay, and the hanzi is a phonological approximation. Cnilep (talk) 04:12, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- I found another instance in a medical journal. I've added the term, with the sources Whym located, to 加冷. I'm convinced that this is cromulent. Cnilep (talk) 07:38, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- RFV passed. The citations located by Whym and by Cnilep have been added to 加冷. Cnilep (talk) 23:19, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
