@Vorziblix: My only source for attestation of Greek words across Coptic is {{R:cop:CDO}}, which does not have an entry for this word, but does have one for ⲃⲁⲥⲓⲗⲓⲕⲟⲥ (basilikos), which it defines rather differently (matching the Greek better). What do you think? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 23:24, 31 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Metaknowledge Looks to me like we’re dealing with two different words, ⲃⲁⲥⲓⲗⲓⲥⲕⲟⲥ (basiliskos, basilisk) from βασιλίσκος (basilískos) and ⲃⲁⲥⲓⲗⲓⲕⲟⲥ (basilikos, royal official) from βασιλικός (basilikós). The CDO is still fairly incomplete in its coverage, so it’s not too much of a surprise that the former is lacking. I’d split off the first sense. — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 10:16, 2 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
