This started out as a single-word definition and a single-line etymology. Since then, the etymology has grown into a detailed narrative that tries to explain everything. What's more, it's metastasized into a "Usage notes" section that's even longer, and there are several books and scholarly journals listed in the footnotes. Can someone prune this back to the dictionary entry it should be, before it morphs into a doctoral thesis and/or a book? Chuck Entz (talk) 09:22, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
