Add topicpronunciation / other mentionable details
[edit]@Svartava, Inqilābī, 103.112.54.39 Thanks for the ping. Regarding pronunciation, whether Old/Middle Bengali entries should show IPA pronunciation (see CAT:Middle Bengali terms with IPA pronunciation) is still unclear. Since this is a historical language, showing IPA with precision without justification may be considered original research. For comparison, Old Punjabi, Old Hindi, Old Marathi, Old Gujarati entries do not show pronunciation. Even if this consideration is ignored, Module:inc-mbn-IPA is not functional.
Regarding other details in this entry, there are Old Punjabi and Old Marathi cognates to be mentioned in the etymology section and an entry in {{R:bn:EDB}}
to be mentioned in the references section. This term does not appear to have a separate entry in {{R:bn:EDB}}
and is instead in a quotation containing a compound for the entry for BĀDHĀ
from পদকল্পতরু [Padakalpataru] on page 639 as [bādhā]-panai tied shoes (apart from slippers or wooden sandals)

- @Kutchkutch: Thanks for reviewing! Could you please make the appropriate edits? Regarding pronunciation, probably best to avoid original research like you said since that could raise another set of parallel problems. Svartava (talk) 09:30, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with you and @Svartava. I normally do not want to assign pronunciations to the Old and Middle Bengali chronolects but whenever I make them (rarely), I prefer to use Chatterji's ODBL volume 1 (around pages 260-280) for the sounds, and I always check that mainly for vowel info (because the consonant sounds are not so different; however, I don't recall about the ~[v]~ sound, but it was probably, at least mostly, converted to [b] by the time of Old Bengali), and I am certain that many users like @Inqilābī also use it. 103.112.54.39 13:07, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
