@AryamanA, @Msasag Is this from Arabic or Sanskrit? The similar entry for अम्मा (ammā) says Sanskrit. There is also an entry for अम्मी (ammī) (says Sanskrit origin here as well) and আম্মী (ammi) which seems to be Arabic for both, given the qualifier for Muslims in Hindi as well (also see Persian fa:امی), but McGregor says colloquial and does not provide an etymology[1] which might point to the feminine form of अम्मा (ammā), Rajpal does not provide an etymology as well.[2]
The अम्मा (ammā) (e.g. see Dasa[3] and McG[4]) in Hindi does look to be Sanskrit not sure about the entry here in Assamese though. Can you check this out? Thanks. Gotitbro (talk) 01:28, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
