@Wyang Uh, does that number belong in the page title? I don't think it would actually be written like that, right? —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 03:24, 11 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Aryamanarora See: Martine Mazaudon (1993), “A brief note on alphabetisation, spelling and transcription in Tamang”. Syomhendo (Kathmandu, Nepal), pp. 15–26. Wyang (talk) 03:29, 11 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang: Hmm, but that seems to be a proposal for a new orthography that takes into account tone (which is otherwise ignored). I was thinking the tone marking could be kept in the |head= parameter. —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 03:33, 11 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Aryamanarora There seems to be no orthography for Tamang yet, and very little written material in Tamang. So... let's see if there is any update in this area in the future. Here is a presentation given by Dr. Martine Mazaudon in 2015 on Tamang tones and orthography, and at some points during the presentation you can see her using the tone numbers in the transcription. I think this is different from the accented forms of Russian, Sanskrit, etc. words that are put as |head= in the {{head}} template; the Tamang words are meant to be written with these tone numbers at all times, in normal writing, as the tones of words are crucial in correctly interpreting a Tamang sentence (pp. 3 of the 1993 paper).
