@AryamanA: Don't know about the liver sense but the sense "heart" is used for humans, albeit poetically. C.f. the very popular Marathi movie कट्यार काळजात घुसली (kaṭyār kāḷjāt ghuslī, the dagger pierced the heart) -- माधवपंडित (talk) 01:40, 12 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
@AryamanA As माधवपंडित mentioned, the figurative meaning is more common than the literal meaning. The literal meaning appears to have narrowed to animals (especially for consumption) in favour of the Sanskrit borrowing यकृत (yakŕt). Kutchkutch (talk) 08:03, 12 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
