@Svartava2: The question was more about the surface analysis. According to the reference, एकल- is the stem and -ड- is a nominal suffix, so -उ or -उं must the adjectival ending (analogous to -ा in अकेला). Regarding the diachronic analysis using extensions, I asked AryamanA at Talk:बछड़ा
