@माधवपंडित Is there a Hale/Nadugannada term we can source for this? Or was this borrowed from what is continuous with modern Kannada? DerekWinters (talk) 01:04, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
- @DerekWinters:, wow, do i no longer get notified when people page me? I also missed a ping by johnc5.. Anyway from what I find, the Old Kannada term for vomiting has the form kār- which is continued in Kannada ಕಾರುವುದು (kāruvudu, “to vomit”). ಒಕ್ಕರಿಸುವುದು (okkarisuvudu), meaning to gag or retch, might be onomatopoeic in origin. Old Marathi and Middle Kannada coexisted for a while so the term may have had a Nadugannada origin but it is difficult to pinpoint exactly because these languages are so poorly documented on the net. -- mādhavpaṇḍit (talk) 09:05, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
@DerekWinters: Since pings were broken the first time. -- mādhavpaṇḍit (talk) 15:18, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
- @माधवपंडित Oops lol. True until we find the Hale/Nadugannada terms it'll be tough. We can just say from "Nadugannada" and then (compare modern Kannada ____). DerekWinters (talk) 15:27, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
- @DerekWinters, माधवपंडित: I've added codes for Halegannada
dra-okn
