"hero, legend"

@Mahmudmasri The first sense does not sit right with me at all. The only meaning of this word that I know of is, loosely, "macho; cocksman; sexual predator, serial rapist", yet I fear that it might itself have arisen from a hazy sense of "heroism". The Google search results that show up to me on the first page are all lurid or half-jocular news stories of serial rapists, with no trace of "heroes". Perhaps the jocular sense of "legend" in English is meant here? I'm puzzled... Roger.M.Williams (talk) 10:25, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

Hmm, well it puzzles me as well, since it's a slang and not all Egyptians are supposed to know all slang. I'd assume it's about being roughly masculine. I'm thinking along with you, there are those who consider thuggery and violence as "heroic" acts. Perhaps, that assumption arises from this thought, considering it related to heroism. I don't know where this word originated, though, and whether that is not only restricted to the Egyptian dialect, or otherwise mainly used by other dialects.
