Etymological doubts

What's the basis for the claim here that the Arabic word derives from Aramaic? CAL[1] specifically claims that the Aramaic attestation (found only in Syriac and Mandaic) derives from Arabic, not vice versa. Is the form attested in any Aramaic texts predating Islam?

And the natural follow-up - obviously ṣundūq looks like a loan from somewhere, but is it really from Greek? The shift from "coffin" to "box (in general)" would be odd; Greek th would normally be rendered as a voiceless consonant in both Arabic and Aramaic; and the vowel change appears inexplicable. Corriente derives the word from Coptic, but his etymology (cane tôk, "sturdy box") doesn't seem convincing either... - Lameen Souag (talk) 09:47, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

CAL is incomplete here. There are some occurences outside of Syriac and Mandaic, about which Profes.I apparently knew when adding the etymology. Plus sometimes Aramaic etyma of Arabic words are inattested. Possibly there is even a Greek by-form involved that is not found, such as what كَرَاوِيَا (karāwiyā) derives from, and I am not sure that all forms and all meanings that the Greek word had are added; likely it meant more in Byzantine Greek.
