Re-evaluating This Verb

The similar verb "تأقلم" is a modern construct based on "إقليم" (region), with no classical root in the Arabic language. The construction "تأفعل" lacks basis in Arabic morphology, where the pattern "تمفعل" would be more linguistically sound—hence "تمقلم" instead of "تأقلم," as with "تمسلم" rather than "تأسلم."

Likewise, "تأرجح" follows the same untraditional "تأفعل" structure, which does not appear in classical lexicons. Arabic morphology instead favors forms like "تمرجح" or classic alternatives such as "ناس ينوس" and "تنوَّس" for oscillating motions; this is more aligned with Arabic’s classical roots and patterns.
