Talk:القصر الكبير
Add topicGender of القصر الكبير
[edit]Hi there, @Fenakhay, thanks for your corrections and improvements; in creating القصر الصغير, I copied the formatting from this page, which I saw you had created, so as to keep the need for posterior corrections from more experienced editors like yourself to a minimum; apparently I also copied the gender, which I planned to leave blank but forgot, since the word قصر is masculine, but in this page the placename is given as feminine and, my knowledge of Arabic being the bare minimum and you being a native speaker, I wasn't sure if the place name was really feminine or a typo. Regarding the Arabic diacritics I must've copied the words from the wrong meaning in the page; they're so tiny and hard to see, but I'll try to pay more attention in the future. - Also, the page Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima doesen't appear in the category Category:en:Regions_of_Morocco
(PS: that apparently has to do with having written "administrative region" instead of just "region") Sérgio R R Santos(talk) 20:14, 27 September 2024 (UTC) - @Sérgio R R Santos: The gender difference is because القَصْر الكَبِير (al-qaṣr al-kabīr) is a city (it takes the gender of مَدِينَة (madīna), which is feminine), unlike القَصْر الصَّغِير (al-qaṣr aṣ-ṣaḡīr). Though I've heard the masculine used too. So I'll just add it as well.
- As for Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, I think something needs to be changed in Module:place. I will see how to fix it later when I have time. — Fenakhay (حيطي · مساهماتي) 20:45, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- Ok. I suspected that turning a common noun into a placename could change the gender, but wasn't sure. Sérgio R R Santos (talk) 20:49, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
