Hebrew has many other forms of the verb "to be", and there are also numerous compound words based on it. If you can improve this, please do. -- Pinkfud 05:05, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

In The Beginning

[edit]

When reviewing the Mod.Hebrew version of Genesis, "יהי" is used when declaring evening and morning. I see translations into English that say "and the evening and the morning...", and others that say something like ... "and there was evening and there was morning...". So we are to understand that evening is the start of the day by this text, and NOT that the work of the Almighty took place after which evening was and the morning was (ending the 1st day and starting the dawn of a new day)?
