"From Proto-Indo-European *kʷos, by loosing the initial consonant." I doubt that, because I do not know any other example where Armenian looses initial kʷ. HJJHolm (talk) 14:49, 8 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

usage notes

[edit]

According to Jasmine Dum-Tragut, in the initial position ո ‎(o) is usually pronounced with a glide, namely the labiodental approximant, as IPA(key): [ʋɔ], e.g. որդի ‎(ordi) IPA(key): [ʋɔɾˈtʰi]. Vahagn Petrosyan, a Wiktionarian, disagrees: in Standard Eastern Armenian word-initially ո ‎(o) is pronounced as IPA(key): [vɔ], with a voiced labiodental fricative.

No offense but... seriously? --Simboyd (talk) 19:58, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
