Can someone please add the etymology? In several other Slavic language the word is ученик, so I am curious about the origin. Bogorm 18:45, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- Provided. učenik (and učitel') are originally Old Church Slavonicisms, from which they were borrowed into all the other Slavic languages, including Serbian. The difference between ђак and ученик is that the former is a bit less formal, and that it (in its modern usage) strictly pertains to student in school (i.e. "pupil"), whilst učenik can also denote a "disciple", "follower" etc. --Ivan Štambuk 18:57, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- I appreciate your intervention, now I already know which is the Bulgarian equivalent. Bogorm 18:59, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
