Alleged slang meanings

[edit]

The following meanings are given in word lists:

  1. (prison slang) a little-esteemed inmate – I think this is шнырь (šnyrʹ), which you find more convincingly on the web.
  2. (prison slang) a prison guard
    Synonym: сто́рож (stórož)
  3. (youth slang) stool pigeon, nark – this also given as штымп кумовской (štymp kumovskoj); see also ru:шоха
    Synonyms: доно́счик (donósčik), осведоми́тель (osvedomítelʹ)

It may also be a nitty. On Twitter with lost context 28-09-2018: »В России сразу бы сказали, что он штырь конченый. А в Германии, что отравлен неизвестным компонентом.« I don’t know who сказал бы this. Fay Freak (talk) 00:02, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
