@Voltaigne: the soft sign comes from the fact that середній (serednij) is a soft-end adjective; the interfix is still -о- (-o-). The same applies for давній (davnij), внутрішній (vnutrišnij), верхній (verxnij), etc. PUC – 19:53, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
