Talk:русская
Can we get an audiofile for the pronunciation of this word? I wonder how to exactly pronounce -ская, the many reporters you hear on TV make me wonder.. 84.104.151.237 08:33, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- I'm afraid it doesn't exist. The IPA information is accurate. What seems wrong with the pronunciation of TV reporters? --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 08:51, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
Well, I'm talking about non-Russian (Anglophone) reporters for starters and although they live in Russia and speak Russian (as far as I know) they pronounce Leningradskaya Hotel like Leningrad-sky-ah for example. Not to flatter myself (perhaps a little), but I thought it was pronounced like the IPA on this page, so I was right? 84.104.151.237 17:25, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- I only don't know the difference between -sky-ah and the IPA on this page. The endings in русская and Лениниградская are pronounced the same way but it's hard to describe exactly by means of another language, that's why there's IPA. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 22:20, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- To an anglophone, this would sound like ROO-ski-uh. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 22:25, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- Which is similar to -sky-ah above. :) I could make a recording (or possibly get a family member with a sweeter voice do it) and upload but I never uploaded before, it seems a rather complicated process. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 23:34, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
By sky I meant IPA: /skaɪ/ (taken from sky#English), so I suppose the IPA on this page and the sky that I meant are not similar? I understand if the uploading of an audiofile is too complicated for you, I just wondered whether it was possible since I was confused. Many thanks for your efforts anyway! :) 84.104.151.237 11:02, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
