@Atitarev Defn 4 "to lift from a lying position" is my attempt to translate ruwikt's "поднять с лежки". Is this right? Benwing2 (talk) 01:09, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

лёжка (ljóžka) is a hunters' term, which has various meanings. I'll get back on this as I have to rush away but check the meaning of "лёжка", ruwikt has a few definitions (not sure if they are all right). --Anatoli T. ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 08:16, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

@Atitarev I did look that term up, and the first meaning says it's the verbal noun of лежить "to lie". I didn't look at the other meanings, though. One of them translates approximately as "den" or "lair" of an animal, another as "track" or "trace" of an animal, but I'm still not sure how either fits into поднять "to raise". I think I would translate поднять с лёжки as "drive from its hole." It is common for a hunter to find a wanted prey hiding in a hole in the ground (such as rabbits, prairie dogs), and they use various tricks and strategies to get the animal to leave its hole. —Stephen ^(Talk) 06:39, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
